Today, people across the country will be voting for the political party that they want to represent them for the next few years. Whatever the outcome, there will undoubtedly be a period of change, coupled with opportunities and planning for the future. As a charity, we hope that the next administration is able and willing to focus on the health and wellbeing of older people and recognise the importance of their voice in decision-making. We will continue to amplify the voices of the older people who use our services and of the volunteers who selflessly give their time to help reduce loneliness for people aged 75 and older across the UK.
We enjoy nothing more than celebrating our volunteers, and in this issue of e-news, you’ll find out more about two people – David and Elaine – who plough their energy into supporting others, what inspires them, and how they’re recognised and appreciated for their generosity.
The demand for our loneliness-reducing services has never been greater, and if you’re looking for a flexible volunteer opportunity that makes a real difference, look no further than our call companion service – including our service in partnership with Parkinson’s UK. Just 30 minutes every week or so helps reduce loneliness for older people through phone calls – we'd love you to join us!

Our annual surveys are the perfect way to gain insight into the impact our work is having across different services, locations and even time periods. Discover more about the findings from our 2023-2024 older people, volunteer and referrer surveys and how we use the data to improve our services.
As a volunteer for the Re-engage call companion service in partnership with Parkinson’s UK, you’ll make regular telephone calls to a lonely or isolated older person who is living with or caring for someone with Parkinson’s.
Whether you’re a volunteer, fundraiser, donor, or you spread the word about our work, you’re helping us lift older people out of isolation or loneliness. Thank you for your support.
