I’m feeling particularly inspired this month by the wonderful people who fundraise for us, to help us support even more older people who are living with loneliness. I never fail to be moved by hearing about individuals taking part in marathons to raise funds, companies donating money from product sales, and families remembering their loved ones while supporting Re-engage. It reminds me of that old – but true – adage ‘it takes a village...’ and for our charity, nothing could resonate more. On a similar note, I’m delighted to share with you more about our Re-engage research group, an important initiative which will support the development of our services in the future.
Although we're in the middle of summer, our thoughts are already looking towards the winter months, which is always a remarkably busy time for our charity. Once again, we will be encouraging more volunteers to sign up as Re-engage Christmas call companions, taking part in the annual Big Give fundraising initiative, and being part of ITV’s 1 Million Minutes campaign – so please do keep a close eye on our social media channels and in this monthly email update to discover how to support us during 2024 and beyond.
I do hope the sun shines for you wherever you are; thank you as always for all you do to help us reduce loneliness or isolation for older people across the UK.
Best wishes,
Jenny Willott
CEO
As part of our commitment to designing and delivering services that fit perfectly with the needs and wishes of our social group guests and call companion recipients, we’ve launched a research group to work in partnership with older people, to shape the future of the charity.
Whether you’re a volunteer, fundraiser, donor, or you spread the word about our work, you’re helping us lift older people out of isolation or loneliness. Thank you for your support.
